A Resilient Community with a Storied History
The founders of Soul City, which sits on the site of a former slave plantation, successfully worked with the Nixon Administration to fund Soul City in 1973 as a “model city”.
Floyd McKissick led the charge and envisioned a prosperous and diverse community. And indeed, Mr. McKissick and the other founders converted “Dreams Into Reality”, but there’s a lot more work to do to create this “model city”.
